The DVD is essentially a follow-up to Jorge Cruise’s “12 Second Sequence” workout DVD.

“Body at Home” uses slow cadence lifting and static contraction in the workouts.

There is a recovery stretch after each workout, which gives you a chance to stretch after each workout section (four repititions of one exercise, then a 30 second recovery stretch).

You work the legs, shoulders and abs, it is a complete workout.

I recommend getting a balance ball and smaller weights with the workout (although these are not required, it is easier if you have these items to follow along).

I also recommend Jorge’s “Belly Fat Cure” (which is essentially minimizing sugar intake) available on Jorge’s website.

So far this year, I have lost about 15 lbs. following the “Belly Fat Cure” and using Jorge’s workout DVD’s.

My only (minor) criticism is that his audio commentary could have used some better editing.

But overall this is a very good workout, he recommends you do the three 20 minute workouts over a week (for example, one 20 minute workout on Monday, one on Wednesday and one on Friday).

I am a 49 year old physically fit woman, and worked with a trainer for 2 years, 3 days per week. At my most physically fit level, we went to far, and I hurt my arms, ending up with a visit to the ER. It was just a matter of not listening to my body, and pushing way over my limit. In my recovery time, I researched some alternatives, and came across Body At Home. I liked the 3 day per week workout, which is what I was used to, but was skeptical about the 20 minute only workouts. I did not think it would give the the strength workouts I had gotten accustomed to. I LOVE it. It makes perfect sense to me now, that the slow movements are as effective, if not more, than the high reps in the gym. I never wanted to get bulky or be a competitor anyway, so this is as perfect for me as I could imagine. ANYONE can benefit from this, and I’ve gotten to where I do two of them at a time if I’m feeling it that day. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to do some resistance training, just to build lean strong muscle! I look forward to more of these by Jorge, with new variations!

Okay, I think everyone can agree that the production values on this video are less than perfect. Also, when I do the exercise routine I feel like “rolling my eyes” because it’s so short and can feel far too easy.

HOWEVER, the next day the muscles I used are actually sore, and I really can see that I worked them effectively — after only 4 repetitions each! That’s pretty impressive, and the fact that this is such an easy routine to work into my schedule makes me give it 4 stars. There are a few mistakes in the voiceovers, and the look of the video is quite unpolished, so I’m afraid I’ll get bored with it sooner rather than later, which is why I won’t give it 5 stars (but really, how many exercise videos DON’T get boring after a while?). However, I think the principles behind it and the techniques Jorge uses are terrific.
