    maybe a bit late now for you now, expex20, but i would advise using a specialist forex broker as they charge less than the front end currency exchanges at banks, airports and shopping malls in terms of commission, also if you have the 5000 usd currency, and the currency you want to convert it too now is at an all time low, then you might as well buy the currency. And if you dont spend it all you may be able to sell it later for a higher price. shop around for the best rate, dont just dive in :)
